Web Development, Graphic Design, Marketing, Teaching/Training
Taught “boot camps” to young girls on coding and web development with the idea of getting our younger generation of females interested in the IT, mostly male dominated world.
How I Want to Participate in PowerHouse
I want to be an example to women and young girls that they can do anything they set their mind to. When I was younger I thought about pursuing a career in web development, but was led to believe it was a man’s job and that women weren’t readily accepted. Yet, here I am, a woman in the IT Department at the Secretary of State, and I am accepted and respected by my male peers. I love my job and I want to encourage others to reach their goals, no matter the obstacle.
Stevey graduated from Montana Tech in Butte with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Information Technology. Her first job after college was working for Square Marketing out of Anaconda, Montana. At the time, Square Marketing, owned by an ambitious, high-energy, smart and talented woman, consisted of all women. There, Stevey learned the ins-and-outs of web development, working with clients in such a challenging field, online marketing, and all the other things that come with it.
Stevey was hired as the Web Developer and Graphic Designer by the Secretary of State in 2014. Since then she has managed the website, created new website features, built an online “toolkit“, and designed many mailings, brochures, postcards, business cards, posters, and t-shirts. In 2015 she worked with the Communications Director to create the Civics website to help teach kids (grades K-12) the importance of civic engagement. She is currently working on the new design and development of the SOS website, set to be launched this spring.
In addition to doing web development and graphic design for the Secretary of State, Stevey also does the same type of work for others on the side. She has built websites for people from Alaska to Connecticut. The websites’ focuses vary from clothing stores to healthcare information to non-profits.
In her spare time, she enjoys working out at FireTower Crossfit and playing with her two dogs, Daisy and Zoey.
