Health Promotion Specialist
Flathead City-County Health Department
- Human Services
My work experiences lend themselves toward working with people who are in need of services. I spent three years work as the Family Services Manager at Northwest Montana Head Start where I began the process of evolving our educators in to advocates for families. This process was exciting and humbling as I learned more and more about human relationships and how past experiences continue to shape us as we age.
From there, I went on the Child and Family Services where I spent one year as a field worker and three more years as a Child Protection Specialist Supervisor. This work was grueling but worthwhile.
Currently, I am a Health Promotion Specialist for my local Health Department. My current focus in this role is youth tobacco prevention, suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and creating a trauma-informed environment. I am an ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experience) presenter, a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) trainer for suicide prevention, and have a forthcoming training to become Mental Health First Aid trainer. These opportunities give me a chance to connect with my community to create a more trauma-informed approach within our community.
How I Want to Participate in PowerHouse
I am looking forward to connecting with other women throughout my community and throughout the state.
