Sarah Korn wants to live in a world filled with smart women, color-coded filing folders, and chocolate cake for everyone. She currently is the Development Coordinator at Forward Montana, a statewide organization that mobilizes and engage young Montanans in the democratic process to improve their lives and the lives of fellow Montanans. She loves the opportunity to connect folks of all walks of life to the causes that get them fired up.
Previously, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Women’s Foundation of Montana, where she managed the PowerHouse Montana initiative. During her year of service, Sarah managed over 325+ volunteers in twenty two counties across the state of Montana, more than doubling PowerHouse Montana profiles and increasing messages sent by over 400%. She also has extensive fundraising experience, working as part of a two-person team on a million dollar capital campaign at Missoula Children’s Theatre/Missoula Community Theatre, and raising over $50,000 for the Women’s Foundation of Montana during her AmeriCorps year.
She has also consistently volunteered one place or another for the last seven years, from coaching Special Olympics swimming to decorating cardboard sea creatures at the Zootown Arts Community Center. Currently, she serves on the Missoula Gives steering committee and loves her weekly volunteer shift at the Missoula Food Bank.
How I Want to Participate in PowerHouse
You are interested in the nonprofit sector, community organizing, or the arts and humanities–I would love to get coffee or a glass of wine with you! I have a particular interest in language and other art forms as tools for influence and persuasion, and how they have impacted humankind through history, for better or for worse. If you have a similar interest, no matter if our day jobs are totally different, I’d love to connect.
Also contact me if you are based in Missoula and are looking for volunteers for your organization and I seem like a good fit–I love learning about different organizations and their efforts through volunteerism, and am always looking for one-time or long-term volunteer opportunities.
