Leadership Experience

Sarah Korn wants to live in a world filled with smart women, color-coded filing folders, and chocolate cake for everyone. As an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Women’s Foundation of Montana, she helped connect Montana women to the mentors, resources, and opportunities they need to take control of their own economic futures through the PowerHouse Montana initiative, an online platform with the aim of doing just that (www.powerhousemt.org).

At the Women’s Foundation, Sarah managed over 325+ volunteers in twenty two counties across the state of Montana, more than doubling PowerHouse Montana profiles and increasing messages sent by over 400%. She also has extensive fundraising experience, working as part of a two-person team on a million dollar capital campaign at Missoula Children’s Theatre/Missoula Community Theatre, and raising over $50,000 for the Women’s Foundation of Montana during her AmeriCorps year.

She has served her community as an AmeriCorps VISTA, worked as a barista, put on a flamingo costume and solicited donations at the farmer’s market, raised money and jumped in freezing cold water to benefit Special Olympics Montana—all things that require communication skills, creativity, and grit.

How I Want to Participate in PowerHouse

You are interested in the nonprofit sector, community organizing, or the arts and humanities–I would love to get coffee or a glass of wine with you!

Also contact me if you are based in Missoula and are looking for volunteers for your organization and I seem like a good fit–I love learning about different organizations and their efforts through volunteerism, and am always looking for one-time or long-term volunteer opportunities.
