strategic communications specialist, earned media specialist, rapid-response communications, writer + editor, website strategist, multimedia storyteller, researcher + data analyst + viz creator, social media strategist, content planner + curator, voice over + on-camera talent
For more than a decade I’ve been a leader in creating compelling multimedia stories, first as a journalist and now as a strategic communications director. Since 2015, I’ve directed internal and external communications for two state of Montana agencies: the Office of Public Instruction and the Department of Commerce. In both roles I’ve had a seat at the executive leadership table where my expertise in strategic communications has lead to an increase in earned media opportunities, brand awareness and public engagement. Today I lead a four-person team as we amplify the mission and awareness of Commerce’s work.
Prior to my work in public relations, I spent a decade as a multimedia journalist. I was a newsroom leader by developing innovative ways to tell stories, first using Tumblr as a content platform before my newsroom had its own website (ancient history!), using digital tools to turn radio pieces into interactive stories, creating websites, and as a digital content trainer for NPR.
