I define a leader as one who guides, motivates and can inspire others to move together to complete a goal. The leader seeks to make the team, the individual, thrive and does not seek personal glory. This has been my pattern since I started teaching fitness classes when I was 18 years old and learned the power, if that is the right term, of helping others succeed. Since then I have served as a financial analyst with a Fortune 500 company guiding teams to understanding how to move forward successfully and led a non-profit that worked to improve access to health care to become a respected entity that brought together the CEO’s of competing health care organization. Throughout my career I have worked with business owners, academic organizations, and local government and non-profit organizations to work together for success. Today I am still the ‘quiet’ leader who enjoys working behind the scenes to be a part of the process that guides individuals and communities to thrive – I do this as an instructor, consultant, and, well, leader of various community and business projects.
