I am passionate about rural development, committed to building sustainable small towns across Montana. Over the past 10 years, that has primarily placed me with working with land use planning and agriculture and I have worked one-on-one with more than 40 farm and food businesses and led over 60 workshops, reaching 800+ participants. Along with a great team of partners, I’ve built programs offering grants, financing assistance, and the statewide clearinghouse, FarmLinkMontana.org. In the process, I’ve raised over $1M in federal and other grant funds in support of this work. I also have designed and facilitated processes for diverse organizations, and thrives on making complicated situations and conversations feel manageable and accessible.
Over the past few years, I’ve become more and more interested in social justice and the structures we have in this society that give some of us privilege over others. I’m passionate about working in communities across the state to break down barriers and build equity. I’m also a huge fan of the arts and see them as a fantastic tool for engaging with difficult issues.
